LOCAL DEMOCRATIC COMMITTEES TO HOLD CANDIDATE EVENT

The Augusta County and Staunton Democratic Committees will hold an event open to all interested voters in Virginia’s 24th and 25th House Districts and surrounding areas. “Meet the Dynamic Duo Who’ll Represent YOU” will feature Democratic candidates Ellen Arthur and Angela Lynn, explaining their platforms and taking questions from voters. Arthur, a retired attorney from Lexington, VA, is running against Del. Ben Cline in the 24th District. Lynn, a former official with the Federal Emergency Management Administration, is running against Del. R. Steven Landes in the 25th District. Both districts include portions of Augusta County.

The event will be held Sunday, September 13, 2015, at 4 p.m., in the White Star Mill room above Mill Street Grill, 1 Mill Street, Staunton, Virginia. Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served, and there will be a cash bar. Tickets (one for $13; two for $25) can be purchased online at https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/meetlynnarthur; in person at The Sacred Circle and Bookworks, both on Beverley Street in downtown Staunton; and from any committee member. Proceeds from the event will be donated by the two committees to the Arthur and Lynn campaigns. The event is open to the public.

Former VA State Senator Frank Nolen, chair of the Augusta County Democratic Committee, said, “This is an excellent opportunity to meet and get to know two hard-charging individuals who would represent all residents of Augusta County, not just special interests.”

“Staunton and Augusta County Democrats often do joint events,” said Nick MacNeil, Chair of the Staunton Democratic Committee, “and this event is of crucial importance to all voters in the area, county or city.”
