Staunton City Council Candidate Forums


The Staunton Democratic Committee normally meets the second Tuesday of every month at the Staunton City Council Chambers in Staunton City Hall at 7:00 p.m. To attend a meeting, enter through the police department entrance on Central Ave. and take the elevator UP one floor.

The City of Staunton will hold elections on May 6, 2014, to fill three vacancies on the council. Eight candidates have filed to run for the three seats. We have provided information below to assist you in making your decision. Please note members of the Staunton City Council do not run on a partisan basis, and the provision of this information by the Staunton Democratic Committee is not an endorsement of any candidate or candidates.

  1. April 16, 2014  – Staunton Senior Center (SSC) at Gypsy Hill Place, 300 Churchville Ave. The forum starts at 1730, but the doors will open at 1700. All eight candidates for the three open seats on the council plan to be in attendance. For more information, call SSC at 540-886-4634 or click here to go to the SSC web site.
  2. April 22, 2014 – The Staunton Arts and Culture Council will hold a public forum with the city council candidates from 1730 – 1900 regarding Staunton’s art, culture, and tourism. The American Shakespeare Center will host the forum at the Blackfriars Playhouse, 10 S. Market Street.
